 TRINA NEWBY-BAKER

 vicepresident@oxonhillhighschoolptsa.org

Trina Newby-Baker was born and raised in Norfolk, VA where she is a graduate of Granby High School located within the Norfolk City Public School System.  She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing from Hampton Institute and a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Maryland in Accounting.

Mrs. Newby-Baker divides her time between work, church and family.  She is employed by the Bureau of Land Management as the Administrative Officer to the Assistant Director, Human Capital Management Directorate.  In this capacity, she manages the budget, keeps management abreast of long and short term projects and is the go to person for information and resolving concerns.  Trina is involved in several ministries at Victory Temple Missionary Baptist Church.  One of her favorite ministries is the Junior Usher Board which she started, organized and is still the advisor.  She truly enjoys working with the youth and derives pleasure in watching them grow and mature.  Her most important times are spent with her family.  She is the wife of Julian Baker and together they are the proud parents of one daughter, Brianna.  Brianna is a junior at Oxon Hill High and a member of the girls Varsity Basketball team.

When Brianna first transferred to Oxon Hill from private school, Trina was concerned with Brianna attending public school.  After meeting her teachers and the parent liaison, Mrs. Singleton, Trina realized that it was a good decision to enroll Brianna in public school.  She discovered that public school has a lot to offer and does not regret the decision.  What she also discovered is that there are issues and concerns that need to be addressed.  Therefore, Trina became a member of the PTSA and has been for the past two years.  She decided that in order to help make a difference and to begin addressing the issues and concerns, she needed to be more than a member.  She believes strong parent/teacher involvement allows students to develop to their full intellectual and human potential and opens doors for the student to explore, create, challenge and lead.

Although Trina is involved in several areas, she is committed to Oxon Hill and the Parent, Teacher, Student Association (PTSA).  She will work hard for the causes and issues of Oxon Hill High School.

Trina is committed to making Oxon Hill High a school of renowned excellence.
