Oxon Hill High School PTSA
* New Administration! New Communications! New Vision! *
ALTHOUGH YOU MAY HAVE FINISHED YOUR TOUR OF DUTY OR EDUCATION AT OHHS, ...THE STUDENTS, THE SCHOOL, AND THE PTSA STILL WANT TO HONOR, CELEBRATE, AND STAY CONNECTED WITH YOU!
It's truly a new day and a new era at Oxon Hill High School. We have a "new" principal and a new PTSA, whose message is focused on "inclusion". Hope and excitement are running at the highest levels in recent memory.
The PTSA (your PTSA Alma Mater) needs to marshal all its resources (past, present, and future) to stand with us in partnership to accomplish great things at OHHS this school year and beyond. Your professions, life experiences, as well as your professional, public and community relationships/contacts are valuable resources of great importance to OHHS and the PTSA. No doubt, they would prove very helpful as we interact with local, county, and state officials to restore Oxon Hill High School once again to greatness in appearance, culture, and in experience.
Here are just some of the projects on our agenda that your talents, energies, and support can help with (in no particular order):
01) The "New" Oxon Hill High School building – OHHS is the oldest high school facility in the county. We were promised a “new” building, we want it, and our children deserve it!
02) Hire the best and a sufficient number of teachers, teacher aides, counselors, and parent liaison staff to provide a first-class and first-rate education experience. Preparing students for success and the real world is paramount.
03) Ensure that current text books for each subject are available and distributed each year to each student.
04) Establish partial and full scholarships for the top 1% of each graduating class with GPAs of 3.5 and above.
05) Augment each classroom with state-of-the-art audio, visual, and computer technology.
06) Equip each student with state-of-the-art mobile and learning technologies.
07) Provide sufficient resources for field trips and extra-curricular activities.
08) Provide afterschool programs to help strengthen the basics and to help those who have fallen behind.
09) Evening programs for parents to position them better to help their children at home.
10) Provide high-end teaching resources needed for a first-rate education experience.
11) Rebuild and equip the school library to rival the best among all high schools
12) Upgrade the school media center to rival the best in the county
13) Refresh the instruments and materials used in the arts
14) Refresh the artifacts and materials used in ROTC
15) Refresh the sports, training and field equipment
16) Refresh the front-office systems to improve communications, efficiency, and productivity
17) Until the new school is built, renovate the various areas (especially the multipurpose room, restrooms, and hallways). All areas should have sufficient HVAC.
18) Until the new school is built, give the outside (especially the front-side and entrance) a face-lift. First impressions mean everything.
There is plenty to do, so please jump in and help us wherever you can...Re-Join the PTSA today to help make a difference!
